Counter-Strike is the most popular fps franchise, beloved across the world. The latest installment in the series, CS:GO, was released over a decade ago. While the game continues to perform well, recently reaching a new concurrent player record, fans have been waiting for a new Counter-Strike game.
Many rumors have hinted that Valve may have started working on another Counter-Strike game. Though nothing has been confirmed, recent hints have made the game appear more likely. Recent Nvidia drivers introduced support for unknown apps called “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe,” bringing back all the interest from fans.
Richard Lewis reported that anonymous sources have confirmed Counter-Strike 2 is on its way, and Valve has been working on it for quite a while. The game will be based on Source 2 engine, which will help the game offer improved graphics. Sources have also confirmed that the game had been tasted by a group of professional Counter-Strike players who were taken to Valve’s headquarters in Seattle to play the game.
The report further claims that a beta for Counter-Strike 2 is planned to release in March.
Rumor: I've got fairly reliable information that Valve has been testing CS:GO on Source 2 with the help of third-party QA companies in the US and EU since at least early December. I can't confirm this 100%, but it's decent enough to share.

Moreover, gabefollower shared another tweet claiming that Valve has been testing CS:GO on Source 2 with the assistance of third-party companies since December.
Taking everything into consideration, it seems like another Counter-Strike game is in development. However, it remains to be seen if Valve is working on Counter-Strike 2 or if the upcoming title is a CS:GO port on the developer’s new Source 2 engine.
Fans will likely continue to be curious about the franchise’s future, and these rumors also raise questions about the future of CS:GO. The game might be abandoned altogether, but that remains to be seen. Fans should take current reports and rumors with a pinch of salt, but if the rumors are correct, Valve should announce the game soon.
