While talking about the game’s success to livedoor news, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 has sold 14.1 Million units worldwide

Square Enix has officially registered 31 January as Final Fantasy 7 day to celebrate the anniversary of the game in Japan. While thanking the fans of the franchise, the Final Fantasy team stated:

Final Fantasy VII was released on January 31st, 1997, and it was a day when many things changed for the series and for us in development. By enacting this anniversary, I will not forget that feeling and will continue to hold it forever.

The game contributed a vital part to the franchise’s success. Final Fantasy 7 revolutionized JRPG games and inspired an entire generation of games. Many fans of the franchise hold Final Fantasy 7 in high regard, with many claiming that Final Fantasy 7 has not been topped yet.

A brand new entry in the series, Final Fantasy 16, is also set to be released this year. The game is already selling well, with fans excited about the latest Final Fantasy release. Additionally, Final Fantasy 14 has shown no signs of slowing down. The beloved Final Fantasy MMO continues to see gameplay updates, with the latest expansion being released in 2021.
