The original Metroid Prime was released over two decades ago on the Nintendo GameCube. The game was praised for multiple aspects at launch, and many fans had recently been waiting for a remaster.
A few months ago, speculation and rumors pointed to an eventual Metroid Prime Remaster, but fans were left disappointed until February 2023. After many years, Metroid Prime is back, and Metroid Prime Remastered was released as a shadow drop at the latest Nintendo Direct.
Metroid Prime Remastered is currently available digitally, and a physical edition will come out later, on February 22. The game had months of anticipation through the rumors, and Metroid Prime Remastered is currently the best-selling game on Nintendo eShop.
The game has beaten many big titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Minecraft to reach the top spot on the list. It should also be noted that Metroid Prime Remastered did not have much marketing behind the project, unlike other releases like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild.
Metroid Prime Remastered offers more than just nostalgia, including enhancements like improved HD visuals. Moreover, the game also offers some new content, like the new Casual difficulty mode and a Soundtrack Gallery. Many have been impressed with the visual upgrade over the original Metroid Prime, and some fans have even claimed that the remaster could pass as a remake.
Metroid Prime 4 is also in development right now, and if the recent remaster is any indication, Metroid fans have an exciting time ahead in the future. Have you played the remastered version of the game? Let’s discuss this in the comments.
