Next PlayStation Showcase To Set Up Second Phase Of PS5

New Beginning For PS5!

Sony has now completed the first State of Play for 2023 after months of rumors. This State of Play featured an extended look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, more Resident Evil 4 Remake footage, and five PS VR2 games. Many fans felt disappointed as the PlayStation State of Play didn’t reveal any first-party Sony games.

However, journalist Jeff Grub previously reported that Sony is preparing for a showcase focusing on first-party games right before E3. Speaking on the latest podcast, he revealed more about the showcase and stated:

They should have a massive show that sets up the second phase of the PS5.

After many years, a physical E3 will be held from June 13 to June 16 this year. Although many people eagerly anticipate the event, reports indicate that none of the big three Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo will be presenting at the showcase this year.

Instead, each of the big three will host their separate showcases, including Sony’s, which will take place right before E3. Grub reported that the showcase was originally planned for last year but was postponed because the first-party developers were not ready.

Sony and Microsoft’s ongoing feud over Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard may have been another reason why the showcase was postponed. Nevertheless, both Microsoft and Sony will present a showcase that will unveil details about their current and new first-party games.

The showcase will most likely feature details or gameplay from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, The Last of Us Factions (the standalone multiplayer game), Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and more unannounced projects from the developers at PlayStation.

However, these aren’t the only games to be announced at the showcase. Previously, there have been rumors about a Metal Gear Solid Remake announcement which is reportedly happening in May, but it could potentially be announced at the PlayStation showcase.
