Microsoft And Platinum Games Reportedly Bringing Back Scalebound

Platinum Games to bring back Scalebound?

Scalebound was first announced in the Mircosoft 2014 E3 2014 Press briefing, with a release date of 2017. However, the Microsoft first-party title was cancelled in the very first month of 2017.

The game was developed by Platinum Games, mainly known for work on various character-action games. After five years of its cancellation, an insider has stated that Scalebound might be revived in some form.

As reported by the reliable leaker Nick from Xbox Era Podcast, Platinum and Microsoft are looking to revive Scalebound. He stated:

Platinum Games might also be working with Xbox again to look at bringing back Scalebound.

In early February 2022, Hideki Kamiya from Platinum games said he was serious about restoring Scalebound. He stated that Platinum Games had put so much work into the game, but the team was unable to finish the game. He further said:

Having gotten somewhere with it, as a creator I’d like to see it to the end. And I hear fans saying they really want to play that game, which is too bad.

Hideki Kamiya makes complete sense as he worked hard for four games for Scalebound, but it was later cancelled. If you are unfamiliar with the game’s situation, it was cancelled because the team was unfamiliar with the Unreal Engine and online gameplay. That led them to many issues in the game, and they realized they could not fulfill the promises they made to the fans with so many problems.

Scalebound was a very ambitious title, and it would be great to see Platinum Games finish their work on the game. However, nothing has been confirmed so far.

Aside from that, what do you think? Should they revive the game after five years of cancellation? Let us know in the comments.
