Resident Evil 5 Steam Update Adds Local Split Screen Co-op

After 14 Years!!

As the entire industry is getting ready for Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 Remake, the developer has just released a new update for Resident Evil 5 over a decade after the game was initially released.

Resident Evil 5 came out in 2009 for consoles and PC. Over 14 years later, a new update has added local split-screen co-op for the horror game.

The update also removes Games for Windows Live support. Microsoft’s service has already been shut down, so this is not too surprising. Moreover, the update includes fixes for a few small bugs and glitches. As such, Capcom is doing its absolute best, taking care of the 14-year-old game to this day.

While the split screen co-op is an excellent addition to PC, it was already available for the console platforms at release. Nonetheless, PC players will be happy to learn that this unexpected feature is now natively supported.

The older Resident Evil games have a huge fan base, and this sounds like great news for users looking to revisit the classic game. Capcom’s recent remakes have also introduced Resident Evil to a new audience, and Resident Evil 5 has not received a similar treatment yet.

Therefore, fans looking to try the next entry after the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake will be able to enjoy a seamless experience with the inclusion of split-screen co-op on the PC release for Resident Evil 5. The game might also be next in line for a remake, but the PC version should be a great option till then.
