Many games were announced at Sony’s State of Play in September 2022; one of the spotlights was Rise of the Ronin, which is developed by Team Ninja, well-known for classic action games like the Ninja Gaiden franchise, and recent titles like Nioh.
Not much is currently known about the game, but it looks like Rise of the Ronin is swiftly headed to the final stages of production.
4gamer.net recently interviewed many prominent Japanese game creators, and one big name was Fumihiko Yasuda, the director of Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin. When he was asked about his aims for 2023, he stated:
The production of “Rise of the Ronin,” which I’m directing, is entering its climax, so I’ll do my best.
Rise of the Ronin is said to be the most challenging project the studio has ever created, and the game has been in development for eight years now, so it looks like Team Ninja is doing their best to provide a fantastic open-world action RPG game for their fans.
The game will be set in the 19th century, during Japan’s ‘Bakumutsu’ era. Rise of the Ronin will combine traditional weapons like katanas with firearms from the era for a unique experience. Similar to other PlayStation titles, it will also have a massive focus on a multilayered story.
Though we don’t have an exact release date, the game is currently slated for 2024. Going by the director’s words, it looks like development on the project is progressing rapidly, so fans are curious if the release date could be pushed ahead to 2023. Still, we will keep our viewers informed of any future updates.
Fumihiko Yasuda has done a great job directing the Nioh series, so fans can expect another thrilling action game from Team Ninja with the upcoming PlayStation exclusive: Rise of the Ronin.
