Will God of War: Ragnarok Be Arriving On PC Platform?

The highly anticipated sequel to 2018's God of War is out for PlayStation but will it ever arrive on PC?

God of War: Ragnarok is the latest installment in the God of War series and is expected to be released on 9th November for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, though the pre-load and reviews of the game are already out, and the game appears to be a masterpiece.

The highly anticipated God of War game is a sequel to 2018’s God of War that shifted the franchise’s direction from Greek mythology towards Norse mythology. The game is set in an apocalyptic event, as the title suggests, and is said to be the last game in the Norse world.

God of War: Ragnarok is exclusive to PlayStation consoles, and currently, there are no signs of the game being released on PC but considering that 2018’s God of War was released for PC earlier this year and did financially well in terms of earnings, there would be no reason for Sony not to bring its sequel to the PC platform.

Sony has been bringing many PlayStation exclusives to the PC. The latest addition is Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves and the upcoming Spiderman: Miles Morales, scheduled for 12th November. Typically, Sony takes at least 2-3 years to bring their exclusives to PC.

Cory Balog, The director of God of War 2018, sat down in an interview with Game Informer earlier this year and was asked multiple questions about the game. In the same interview, he was asked if God of War: Ragnarok would be arriving on PC after its release, to which he replied:

” We’re taking it one game at a time, looking at each and determining, “Okay, is this the best thing?” And we’ll gauge how it does. Do people enjoy it? Did we do it right? Is there anything we did wrong? What can we do better in the future if we do this again? But at the end of the day, ultimately, it’s Sony’s decision.”

Although this answer wasn’t obvious, it didn’t confirm nor deny the possibility of a God of War: Ragnarök PC port.

Jetpack Interactive, the lead development studio behind God of War 2018’s PC version, updated their LinkedIn page recently, where they stated:

“Jetpack has been working alongside Sony Interactive (Santa Monica Studio) on God Of War projects, including the port of GOW 2018 to PC/Steam

The port has been commercially successful, and the game received praise from critics and Sony Santa Monica. Jetpack continues to work with Sony Santa Monica on the God Of War franchise.”

This suggests the possibility of a God of War: Ragnarok PC port is already in the works, but it’s still speculation until we get an official confirmation. Considering how its predecessor performs on the PC platform, it seems God of War: Ragnarok will surely come to the PC platform after some exclusivity period on PlayStation consoles.
