CDPR has become one of the industry’s biggest names. The launch of the original Cyberpunk 2077 was less than ideal, but the studio managed to turn the tables and make it one of the best RPGs of all time.
The Cyberpunk Sequel, as we know, is currently in development, and the studio hasn’t revealed a release window as of yet.
However, a Polish analyst claims the title will launch in Q4 2030 and feature multiplayer. For context, the original game doesn’t have any live service elements, so this is a departure from a solely single-player experience. The addition of multiplayer has also increased the budget, pushing it well above Cyberpunk 2077.

The budget for the Cyberpunk Sequel, otherwise known as Project Orion, is stated to be PLN 1.5 billion, which roughly converts to around $400 million. The reported budget for the first game was around $300 million for the base game, but it was later increased for the Phantom Liberty DLC.
Currently, CDPR has a team of about 135 developers working on Orion. The development is continuing simultaneously with the studio’s other big title, The Witcher 4. However, the team working on the Cyberpunk sequel is expected to double in the next 2 years, according to the analyst.

This means that Project Orion is expected to be wrapped up in about 5-6 years, much quicker than the first game. CDPR has learnt from its past mistakes and is now using Unreal Engine 5, and says it has substantially improved the tech, as seen in The Witcher 4 tech demo.
Fans will be hoping the title launches in its full form and isn’t a repeat of 2020. The sequel is expected to be much more ambitious, introducing new locations to the franchise, but let’s wait and see if it indeed comes out in 2030.
