Shin Megami Tensei Games Reportedly Coming To Xbox Consoles

More JRPGS For Xbox!

The Shin Megami Tensei franchise comes from the developers behind the well-known Persona franchise. Much like the Persona titles, Shin Megami Tensei has been mostly limited to Japanese consoles like Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, skipping on Xbox consoles. However, Microsoft has recently made a huge push for the Japanese gaming market.

While talking on the most recent Xbox Era Podcast episode, leaker Nick Baker has now suggested that three games from the franchise could be heading to Xbox consoles eventually. According to the leaker, Microsoft is looking to sign a deal for Shin Megami Tensei 3,4, and 5 on Xbox.

Nick also suggests that Atlas is not the fastest developer, and these deals take some time to complete. He stated,

“I have been told that Microsoft is looking to do a similar deal to Persona, which is to bring Shin Megami Tensei 3,4 and 5 to Xbox.”

The leaker had previously talked about the Persona franchise coming to the Xbox platform. But this was leaked over a year before the official announcement. Persona 5 is now available on the console, with Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden coming in January 2023.

Additionally, the Shin Megami Tensei titles are scattered across different consoles. Shin Megami Tensei 4 is currently only available on the Nintendo 3DS, and the game has not been ported to new consoles despite being released in 2013. The recent Shin Megami Tensei 5 is also currently exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

The franchise is also more niche than recent games like Persona 5. However, Microsoft has shown that the company is willing to invest in the Japanese gaming world, and JRPG titles like Shin Megami Tensei would serve as a great addition to Xbox.

Despite Nick’s accuracy with the Persona leak, it would be wise to take this information with a grain of salt before any official announcements are made. Do you think the Shin Megami Tensei games can be on Xbox? Would you give them a shot? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
